Another successful night sleep!

Yay!!  Joe Sung Min slept through the night again!!  He slept from 8:30 at night until 6:30 in the morning.  Atta boy!  As he is getting more sleep, his moods are definitely improving and he is getting more settled into a routine with us.

One of the things we are working on with him is trying to get him to play a more active role in his feeding.  He has quite the life right now with us holding his bottle (won't use a sippy cup) and feeding him.  He is now able to pick up pieces of food (cheerios, cheese, pieces of meat, etc) and hold them about mouth high, but refuses (I mean outright refuses) to put it in his mouth, opting instead to give a pleasant "ah" with his mouth open or a more guttural "AAAAHHHHHH!!!!!" complete with hand gesticulations.  Liv is always quick to remind him that he should use his inside voice and ask nicely if he wants something...  We know it will all come when he is ready, but for now, he is our baby and we'll provide his needs in whatever way is necessary.

He tried a few new foods today -- hummus was a huge success, as were chunks of chicken I was cooking for some chicken wrap-ups.  At dinner time, he and Olivia shared a chicken and cheese quesadilla.  Now if only we'd have as much success with fruits and veggies.

We decided to surprise Liv and take Joe to pick her up from school.  She absolutely beamed when she saw the three of us waiting outside and excitedly told her friends that her little brother came to school.  She gave him a big hug and kiss and he had quite the group of admirers around him.  We got home and Joe had a snack while Liv finished her lunch.  For some odd reason, she only has enough time to eat one carrot in her lunch period and comes home hungry, ready to eat her other carrots, sandwich and whatever else Brian packed for her.  We think there is a little too much chit-chat going on and not enough chewing...

After dinner, Liv wanted to play with her zsu-zsu pets downstairs.  We said that was fine but she'd need to be prepared that Joe would want to be part of the fun, too.  After all, whatever she is doing, he wants to do too.  Big sister Liv came through with flying colors.  She gave him one of her zsu-zsu pets to play with and showed him how they ride a surf board or drive a boat.  He absolutely loved watching them scurry around the floor and around their little house.  He was a little giggling machine and Liv was eating it up.  I was very proud at how well they played together and that she shared her toys so graciously.  I think she's getting used to being a big sister!

Joe and one of his favorite toys - tupperware!

Hi Mama!

Standing up!

Bedtime was an adventure.  He was short on naps and I was sure he'd go down easily.  Wrong!  He wanted no part of settling down, being rocked or his bed.  I gave it the old college try for about 45 minutes before taking a break to get Liv set up with her breathing treatment.  He was NOT a happy camper.  Brian got home and I passed Joe off and said to the Papa, "Sung Min-Na gonna sleep".  The "Sung Min-Na gonna..." will provide us limitless fodder over the coming years. :-)   Brian had no luck and finally passed him back to me.  After an hour and a half of trying, he was finally ready to sleep.  Hopefully he'll sleep through the night again.
